We are so grateful to our Darlene Nuqingaq, President of the Iqaluit Music Society, for her years of dedication as a volunteer music teacher and Music Camp founder.  She has had a profound impact on many youth in Iqaluit. We congratulate Darlene on her retirement after 30 years of school teaching, and we are happy she will continue volunteering to teach fiddle and music!

Thank you St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Ottawa!

We are thankful for the support of our friends at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Ottawa for their continued support for our annual Summer Music Camp.  A group of nine youth under the leadership of Frances Macdonnell, fundraised to come volunteer at our 2016 Summer Music Camp.  Their excitement was contagious, so many parishioners joined in on the trip to Iqaluit volunteering at our camp, the Soup Kitchen, the local hospital etc.  Their support for our programs continue with financial support and donations of guitar cases.  Thank-you!

Thank you Cantiamo Girls Choir!

The Quviasugitsi! Be Happy! fundraising concert on behalf of The Iqaluit Music Society was held on October 23, 2016 at Dominion - Chalmers United Church featuring The Cantiamo Girls Choir directed by Jackie Hawley; Students from Nunavut Sivuniksavut; and Grace Bruno's Violin students.  They raised over $3400 for our programs!

Thank you to MusiCounts TD Community Music Program!

In September 2016 the Iqaluit Music Society was the recipient of a $16 000 grant from the MusiCounts TD Community Music Program!  This grant was used to purchase much needed new smaller violins, cases, bows, strings, as well as 6 new accordions!  With this, we launched our new Accordion Club and will be able to accommodate more accordion students in our summer Iqaluit Music Camp in August.  Thank you MusiCounts for supporting music education in Iqaluit!

Thank you Uyen!

We are very grateful to have friends outside of Iqaluit.  Uyen is a budding young musician who held a very special fundraising performance for the Iqaluit Music Society.  Thank you Uyen for raising $400 that will go towards music education for youth in Iqaluit!
